An active user is someone who signs in at least once during the billing month. People you have provisioned but who never sign in are not billed, and neither are deactivated accounts. Enter your headcount and how many of those people actually train in a month, and this works out which tier fits and what it costs in Canadian dollars.

Worked example

A headcount of 250 with 40% signing in during the month gives 100 billable active users. The Starter tier covers it, at $400 per month on the annual cycle.

Annual billing is 20% below the monthly cycle. The selectable capabilities above come from the plan catalogue, as do the caps and the rates.

How active user billing works

An active user is someone who signs in at least once during the billing month. The count is taken once per billing month, no matter how many times that person signs in, and it does not matter which method they use. A sign-in through single sign-on counts exactly the same as one with an email address and password.

People you have provisioned but who never sign in are not billed, and neither are deactivated accounts. That is what makes the model different from per seat licensing. Per seat licensing charges for the right to have an account. Active user billing charges for use of the account.

The difference shows up whenever the number of accounts is larger than the number of people training in a given month. Seasonal workforces, contractor pools and organization-wide compliance campaigns all have that shape: many accounts, uneven use.

If someone is deactivated part way through a month after they had already signed in, they count for that month and stop counting from the next one. Their completion records stay in the system either way, so removing someone from the active roster does not touch your compliance history.
